Planting a musical seed of hope is Zoe the Seed
Swazi born and Durban raised vocalist and songwriter, Zoe the Seed will be performing at SUNCOAST’s Sunday Beats this Sunday from 2pm at the Amphitheatre!
Zoe the Seed was born in Swaziland and relocated to Durban after high school and went on to study Jazz and Popular music at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. “My passion for the genre of jazz began when I attended my first jazz class at UKZN. Initially I was just curious about studying jazz and never really thought I would love it so much. However, here I am, a jazz vocalist who is completely in love with jazz” says Zoe.
She currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in the Performance for Jazz and Popular Music from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Zoe’s music carries soul, passion, along with diverse sounds as she likes to experiment with sounds from soul to jazz classics, reggae, rock and gospel. Her songs evoke deep emotion as they are written about her everyday experiences of life and promote love and respect.
“My lyrics are always filled with passion in what I sing and my biggest passion is standing up against violence against women and children, this is something that you will find translating into my music” says Zoe.
As a solo artist Zoe has performed with a band called Unlocked Keys and has performed at many public and private gigs such as the Durban ICC, Zimbali Resort, Hazelmere Dam and Riverts. She has also hosted solo events at venues such as the Jazzy Rainbow, Jazz Centre and the BAT Centre in Durban.
“Zoe is a phenomenal jazz artist who sings from the heart and always evokes deep emotions that capture exactly what she is feeling. Having her perform at our Suncoast Beats session at the end of August is a fitting end to Women’s month, so be sure to come and enjoy this inspiring performance” says SUNCOAST Marketing Manager, Louise Howell.
Before embarking on a solo journey she was the drummer for the all-female jazz band, Heels Over Head who in 2011 were nominated for the MTN SAMA Awards for best jazz album. For more information visit suncoastcasino.co.za and click on the events section.
