Suncoast Casino, Hotels and Entertainment believes so much in investing in local musical talent, they began monthly music sessions called SUNDAY BEATS!
Sunday Beats are free monthly music performances that take place at the SUNCOAST Amphitheatre monthly on a Sunday from 14h00 to 16h00. Local artists from all over KwaZulu-Natal are invited to perform at each event with Suncoast paying the artists and assisting them in the promotion of their gig during that month.
Musicians who have stepped onto the Sunday Beats stage range from well-known local artists such as Chloe Clark, The Kickstands, Gus Brown band and Heels Over Head to name but a few.
“Before local artists become national and even international artists, they have to first gain an audience and a following at home. This was one of the reasons why we started Sunday Beats. To empower and support our local musicians” says SUNCOAST Marketing Manager, Louise Howell.
Through Sunday Beats, Suncoast has also assisted in creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere along the popular Golden Mile, which on weekends is packed with sandcastle builders, joggers, cyclists, rickshaw operators, Segway riders, surfers, skateboarders and more.
“We are hoping to build on the successes of Sunday Beats by introducing other platforms that will not only highlight the diversity of talent in Durban and KZN but also boost the local economy” says Louise Howell
Upcoming artists that will be performing at the next Sunday Beats sessions include:
- Zoe The Seed – Sunday, 28 August
- Just Eddie – Sunday, 04 September
- 5th Season – Sunday, 25 September
