Celebrating Spring and Arbour Week

Planting seeds of growth!

Volunteer staff members from Suncoast Casino, Hotels & Entertainment, celebrated the beginning of Spring and Arbour Week with the Vukukhanye EduCare Centre.

“Today we have come to the Vukukhanye EduCare Centre, to plant a variety of plants that will be used in the preparation of food for the little ones that attend the centre everyday” says SUNCOAST Staff Coordinator, Basil Simons.

The Centre’s aim is to facilitate the provision of quality preschool education to children from Chesterville within the school catchment area. Started in February, 2012 the Centre looks after fifty children from 2 to 5 years of age.

“The work that we do at the Centre has been a great success over the past 5 years. Many children have received quality education that has made their enrollment into primary school seamless. The assistance from the SUNCOAST staff with the planting of vegetables is appreciated and will help in providing healthy nutrition to the children’s diets” says Chief Executive Officer of Vukukhanye, Dr. Anthony Van Der Meulen.

SUNCOAST’s visit to the community of Chesterville forms part of their Community Upliftment Project (CUP) and take place every month through the facilitation of Dr. Van Der Meulen. For more information on Vukukhanye you can visit Vukukhanye.org.za.
