Prize-giving will take place directly after the race and lucky draw prizes will be awarded. People of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to participate as all money raised will be used to help children and young adults diagnosed with leukaemia. The Pick n Pay ‘Rope of Hope’ at SUNCOAST on Sunday, 19th September 2010

The ‘Rope of Hope’ concept was conceived three weeks before the 2008 Sunflower Fund National Bandana Day and within no time we had East Coast Radio onboard with free advertising.

On that National Bandana Day we received 1869 metres of bandanas which were tied together and wrapped around ECR House. In 2009 the ‘Rope of Hope’ covered the 4km Fun Run route at SUNCOAST and this year, with the help of individuals and businesses, we aim to reach our 5km target.

We urge all businesses to set aside a day before the 19th September and encourage all staff to bring their Sunflower Bandanas to work and tie them together to see how far they can reach or whether they can wrap around their office building. This ‘Rope’ can then be brought to SUNCOAST on Sunday, 19th September at 8.00am and joined to the regional ‘Rope of Hope’ which will cover the Pick n Pay Hyper 5km Fun Run.

This regional ‘Rope of Hope’ is then donated to hospitals and orphanages to create duvet covers, pillow cases, curtains and laundry bags. For more information on this campaign contact Stephanie Berry on 078 207 9041 or email steph@sunflowerfund.org.za.
