The more popular soccer games at the Moses Mabhida Stadium have increased the pressure on the Suncoast Parking facilities. This has been compounded by the current lack of stadium parking whilst upgrades to the precinct are taking place.
Our primary concern is to those guests who come to Suncoast to enjoy our entertainment complex, including the restaurants. After the first couple of games late last year guests to the complex correctly complained that they were unable to find parking as the soccer spectators had utilized the parking.
One of the potential solutions was to increase the parking fee to R20. This has been done during the past two big match days only, for a three hour period prior to kick off. At the same time the parking was made free to Suncoast Club Festival Members, who make up the majority of guests to Suncoast.
The reason R20 was chosen is because the temporary public parking made available to spectators within the precinct (old Drive Inn Site and old Motocross site) was set at R20 by the relevant external officials, and anything less from Suncoast would again have merely compounded the problem.
We certainly apologise for the inconvenience caused to Suncoast guests at the recent Telkom Knockout Final. The final was arranged at extremely short notice and we were unable to communicate our plans to guests timeously.
The toll gate entry fee to SUNCOAST is currently R5. This will be assessed on an ongoing basis and we are still considering our plans for the World Cup, but in all instances we will be driven by the principle that guests to Suncoast remain our priority in terms of parking facilities.
