Durban’s Suncoast Casino & Entertainment World has set out to position its already popular conference facilities as the premier events destinations in Durban, with packages and services realigned to take full advantage of the complex’s unique hospitality offering and prime location on Durban's Golden Mile.

Management at the casino complex recently outlined some of the exciting plans in the pipeline for its three conference and events spaces: the Delano Room, the Colony Room and the Supernova theatre venue.

SUNCOAST Executive Director Mike Dowsley said, “We want to bring even greater value to our conference and event clients. We have relooked at our offering and set out to ensure that the conference facilities are fully integrated into the rest of the SUNCOAST destination offering, rather than being managed as separate entities.”

This would include encouraging clients to take a holistic view of the casino destination by maximising on the neighbouring Suncoast Hotel & Towers, the beach and gaming facilities when planning their event at SUNCOAST. Craig Tibbit, SUNCOAST Food and Beverage Manager, whose department now manages the facilities in partnership with Conference Centre Manager Valerie Pillay, said the complex had steered clear of increasing its conference and menu rates for 2011. “We’ve fixed these at our 2010 rates so clients can receive the best value when booking with us,” he said.

Tibbit also said bridal couples would be targeted with fully inclusive packages including free wedding night accommodation in the five star Penthouse Suite of the Suncoast Hotel & Towers.

Those registered with SUNCOAST’s Club Festival loyalty programme would also receive discounts when booking events.

All three venues offer the most sophisticated lighting, acoustics & air conditioning.

The 400m² Delano Room accommodates banquet seating of up to 250, cinema seating of up to 450, cocktail seating of up to 450, schoolroom up to 250 and U-shape up to 80.

The smaller 200m² Colony Room can accommodate banquet seating of up to 100, cinema set-up of up to 175, cocktail of up to 170, schoolroom up to 120 and U-shape up to 30. Finally the 560m² SUNCOAST Supernova venue offers a multi-purpose function theatre with a 170m² large screen, luxury seating and writing desks. It is housed in the complex cinema managed by Avalon Cinemas. Catering for up to 490 cinema style, it is an ideal venue for large groups, meetings and product launches.
