Voted for by readers of Kwa-Zulu Natal’s popular daily title, the awards saw SUNCOAST unanimously clinch the title ahead of local casinos Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom in Durban and  Golden Horse Casino in Pietermaritzburg, which earned second and third place respectively this year.

Executive Director, Mike Dowsley said his staff was toasting the success of lots of hard work, a positive attitude and an element of fun thrown in for good measure.

"It is a true reflection of the passion and commitment of our staff that we continue to enjoy such enthusiastic support from the people of Durban,” he said.

Since opening its doors at the of 2003, SUNCOAST has chalked up an impressive array of awards in the public sector  - most as a result of reader surveys - as well as in the business sector.

In March 2010 SUNCOAST was also acknowledged for its sterling contribution to the Durban tourism offering at the inaugural Tourism Tribute hosted by the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa (FEDHASA).

Other awards earned by SUNCOAST in previous years have included the 2007 and 2009 PMR Africa Golden Arrow Business Sector Award for Best Casino & Entertainment Centre in KZN, the Big Business Award by the Mayor of Durban in 2007, and the Caxton/Rising Sun Best Of Durban Readers Choice Award in 2006 for Best Entertainment and Best Casino.
